How to get the most out of your Ice Box:

🧊 Ice Retention & Cooling

How long will my Tropical Ice Box keep things cold?

Tropical & Koastal Ice Boxes are built to keep contents colder for longer — how you pack and use it will maximise its performance.

  • Pre-chill food, drinks or bait where possible
  • Use block ice with cubed ice or frozen bottles to fill gaps
  • Open the lid only when needed — cold air escapes quickly

Like anything built for real-world use, how you pack and handle it makes the difference.

Should I drain out melted ice water?

Keeping some cold water inside actually helps maintain low temperatures. Drain only when you need to reduce weight or water level.

Can I use dry ice?

Yes. Dry ice is safe to use, but it releases CO₂ gas which can build pressure in an airtight cooler.

  • Allow ventilation: loosen the drain plug (if fitted) or “burp” the lid periodically.
  • Handle with gloves; avoid direct skin contact.
  • Wrap blocks or use a barrier to protect the liner and separate from items you don’t want frozen.
  • Keep in a well-ventilated space; don’t store in a sealed room or vehicle.

🧱 Features

What makes Tropical Ice Boxes different?

One-skin moulded construction (no seams), UV-stabilised, food-grade materials, and rugged hardware designed for Aussie conditions. Strong, simple, and built to last.

Are Tropical Ice Boxes food safe?

Yes — we use food-grade materials suitable for food, drinks, and bait. Clean with mild soap and water after use.

Can I sit or stand on it?

Yep — our lids are sturdy and make a great seat. Just keep it sensible: don’t jump on it, don’t swing off the lid or handles, and avoid placing sharp or hot items directly on the lid or close to the fire. Close the latches and sit evenly. Treat it with care and it’ll look after you.

🧽 Care & Maintenance

How do I clean and store my ice box?
  • Rinse with fresh water after use (especially after saltwater).
  • Wash with mild soap, rinse well, and dry with the lid slightly ajar.
  • For best longevity, store out of direct sun when not in use.
How do I prevent odours in my ice box?
  • Clean with mild soap and rinse thoroughly after each use
  • Dry completely before storing
  • Store with the lid slightly ajar to allow airflow
  • For stubborn odours, a mix of baking soda and water can help neutralise them
What are the plastic tabs for under the lid?

The round plastic spacers (taped under the lid when supplied) can be placed at each corner to help prevent foam compression during long-term storage or stacking.

📏 Choosing a Size

Not sure which size is right for you?
  • 10L - 35L: ideal for day trips, personal use, lunch & drinks.
  • 35L - 52L: great for weekends away, smaller boats, or couples camping.
  • 52L - 85L: suits family camping, longer trips, or work crews.
  • 85L - 105L: extended trips, larger groups, light commercial use.
  • 105L - 200L: serious storage for fishing, boating, events, catering, or job sites.
  • 200L & upwards: built for large-scale commercial work, rural and remote operations, community supply runs, offshore fishing, and serious bulk cold storage.
  • 300L - 1100L: large-scale commercial models available by pre-order.

Keep in mind — how long you’re away, how many people you’re packing for, and how you pack your ice all make a difference.

Always check product dimensions to ensure a good fit for your space.
